About
Akshay is a composer, singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist based in Goa, India and is the great-grandson of renowned Indian classical Thumri artist Naina Devi. Upon graduating from the University of Southern California (USC) in 2007, he was involved in the independent music scene as part of the band ‘Barefaced Liar’. Particularly fond of rock & blues music and both Western and Indian Classical ; he is the founder of 'Three Kings Recording Studio' and is also actively involved in the creation of music for Advertising agencies/TV & Film.
When the world was forced to take a break in 2020, Akshay dedicated his time to working on learning how to produce and mix music via online learning platforms.
He also deepened his tutelage under the guidance of renowned Indian slide guitar pioneer Pt. Debashish Bhattacharya and in doing so, reconnected with his classical roots. This manifested in a unique collaboration on the new instrumental composition “Love in Kyoto”.
This, and other influences, are reflected in the new material that will be part of the solo debut EP/album set to be released in the summer of 2024. This album will have a distinctive Indian classical bent via slide guitar and vocal melodies in the new singles including ‘I Belong To You’ and ‘Waiting On That Call’ and ‘On The D/L’, all written in English and with a global outlook.
All the songs on the album have been mixed and mastered by Vivek Thomas of VTP studios bringing a new, contemporary sound that merges current production values of the west and Akshay's distinctive songwriting capabilities. Greg Wurth (Grammy nominated producer and chief engineer for Steve Vai at L.A's Mothership Studios) has mastered a new track on the EP.
